-My brain still hurts a little from SharePoint training.  I had a chance to talk about the possibilities with my leaders, and we agree that SP can definitely help us out in some areas.

-I traded my Lenovo 3000 series laptop in for a T61.  So far I love it.  The screen is BRIGHT!

-This week I paid down my LAST credit card … hopefully ever.  The only debt I have now is the loan on my car.  I’m very psyched over this.

-I’ve been making an effort to keep my inbox as clean as possible.  As of right now, my Outlook inbox has 0 messages in it.  My next goal in this area is to set a definite time, probably twice a day, to check emails.  I’ve got a terrible habit of treating Outlook like an instant messaging client sometimes.

-Between holidays, being sick, and being in Peoria, I had about 3 weeks off from my workout routine until this Monday.  It felt GOOD to get back on the equipment and sweat again.

-We (NPCC) are getting ready to sell a remote HD camera (a BRC-H700 to be exact).  If you’re looking for an HD camera and this interests you, you should contact me before I post it on eBay.

That’s all for now … I’m headed to Columbus tomorrow…going to spend a day in Easton.  It should be a nice getaway.

It’s a great afternoon for resting, and I’ve been doing just that.  I thought I’d take some time and dump some stuff off my mind though.

We had a Mac crash during production today in our control room.  Yep, a Mac.  The service screeched to a halt for about 15 seconds while we brought it back online.

Apparently I missed a DST patch on one of our servers.  I walked into the office after morning services to check things out.  One DC had changed time while the other one hadn’t.  I applied the DST patch to the offending server and things look like they’re back to normal.

I’ve eaten way too much pizza this weekend.

I’ve been spending a fair amount of time in Planning Center, and the more I use it, the more I like it.  I may even learn CSS and Liquid so that I can crank out some custom production plans.

I started using Meebo for instant messaging a few weeks ago, and I’m pretty much hooked.  I still have some of the apps on my PC just in case I need to do a file transfer, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve had to do that.

That’s all for now. :-)

I’m waiting for file servers to defrag.. and it’s a little boring, so I thought I’d dump what’s floating around in my head.

I got word today that Gefen is now shipping a DVI-HDSDI scaler that will also do frame sync as well.  Plus it will scale and extract.  It’s great to see more manufacturers coming out with more HD gear….hopefully we’ll see some price drops soon.

Mike challenged me awhile back with finding a relatively inexpensive way to track phone activity on our phone system.  I’ve got a demo in the works right now that is looking pretty sweet.  I’ll blog more on it later.

I don’t watch a lot of baseball, but I’m genuinely excited that the Indians are going into tonight with 2 wins.  Does that make me a fair-weather fan?

As pumped as I am about about a domain rebuild on our network, I’m still nervous that I’m going to forget something critical.  Thank goodness for VMs and snapshots.

During the summer I got an overwhelming positive response from out staff about having the ability to access the network from home, so one of my projects tonight is setting up an SSL-VPN server to see how our work-from-home users like it.  It’s been a long time coming, for sure.

That’s about it for now… it’s time to start bringing VMs back up.

This past week has gone by like a whirlwind.  I’m going to try and recount some of what’s happened before I forget.

-  I am GOING to get my motorcycle endorsement this year.  I’m tired of taking the permit tests over and over again.

-  Starting tomorrow, IT Tuesday will happen EVERY NIGHT instead of just every other night.  If you’ve got a hankerin’ to get involved in IT and you want to stop by, give me a ring at the church or email me.  The door’s always open.

-  Tomorrow I’m installing the new drive cabinet for our backup server.  Once it’s connected and online, we’ll have about 8TB of much-needed backup space.  Once we upgrade the switches in our IDF’s, we’ll be putting video material on this space as well.

-  I’ve been riding my bike with a full helmet for a long time and I finally got tired of it, so this past weekend I bought a 1/2 helmet.  I LOVE it.  It’s much less restrictive and my head feels so much lighter.  The only downside is that now my face is fair game for bugs.

-  One of the best things you can do for your laptop-toting Lead Pastor is give him RPC-HTTP/S access to the Exchange server.

-  We finally have all of our cables off the floor between the control room and the editing room…it looks so clean!  GRANDE kudos to Kathy, Kevin, Brandon, Vince, and Dave B. for helping to make this happen.  You guys rock!

-  I have a tremendous hankerin’ for Sushi at the moment.

-  I’ve recently gotten hooked on 2 shows, which is saying a lot considering I never watch any TV.  The shows?  Monk and Psych.  I actually went and downloaded the first season of Psych to my iPod so I could watch it.

-  I’m still exercising, still trimming down…. trying anyway.  I FEEL much better.  I have more energy and I don’t run short of breath as easily as I used to.  My next step?  I’ve gotta work on that diet, man.

-  My landlord is the bomb.  He didn’t have to put a new air conditioner in my apartment but he did, and the place is MUCH more comfortable because of it.

Kevin and Danny have mentioned Big Jim’s already in their blogs.  I went there a couple weeks ago with someone to try it out, and man it’s LEGIT.  The food is delicious, the price is SO right (burger, fries, and drink for under $5!!) and the dude who’s face is on the menu is GRILLING YOUR BURGER.  I love it.  If you’re anywhere near Dover/Phila, you need to check this place out.

That’s all for now.  I didn’t even get to post this on Monday because my internet connection puked, and I was too tired to wait for it.  Aw well… it’ll work.
